Thoughts On Money

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

1: The stuff you use when all your credit cards are maxed-out.

2: They say that money isn’t everything, and that’s true. Problem is — look how many things it is though.

3: They say money can’t buy friends. It can, however, rent a few now and then.

4: They also say that money can’t buy you true love either. It does however put ya in a good bargaining position.

5: As for money buying happiness, do you really think the guy with 250 million is any happier than a guy with only 200 million?

6: When money talks, nobody notices what grammar it uses.

7: I’ve got enough money saved for the rest of my life. Well… unless I want to buy something.

8: Double your money! Fold over once and put it in your pocket.

9: A Penny Saved Is… “Not Much”

10: They say that money talks. Mine always says “Good bye!”

11: Money is the root of all money!

Is Windows a Virus???

Friday, March 14th, 2008

No, Windows is not a virus. Here’s what viruses do:

1.They replicate quickly  okay, Windows does that.

2.Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so okay, Windows does that.

3.Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk  okay, Windows does that too.

4.Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh.. Windows does that, too.

5.Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, Windows does that, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences:

Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus. It’s a bug.

WOMEN

Friday, March 14th, 2008

A little boy asked his mother, “Why are you crying?”

Because “I’m a woman” ,she told him.

“I don’t understand “, he said.

His Mom just hugged him and said, “And you never will.

Later the little boy asked his father, “Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?”

“All women cry for no reason”, was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, “still wondering why women cry…”

How to Block your Stolen Mobile Phone in Pak

Friday, March 14th, 2008

To block your mobile phone call at 021-5682222, 6583334 to CPLC (Citizen Police Liaison Committee) or to 15, you can also call directly to PTA at the following number 0800-25625. They will get some basic info and the IMEI number of your lost mobile set. They will register IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) of your cell phone and will request all the mobile operators to block this IMEI on their networks. You can also fax your complaint to CPLC at 021-5683336 or can send an email to PTA at imei@pta.gov.pk or visit the site which is www.cplc.org.pk

IMEI is a number which is unique to every GSM mobile phone. It is usually found printed on or underneath the phone’s battery and warranty card. IMEI of any set can also be found by dialing the sequence *#06# into the phone. The IMEI number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call his/her network provider and instruct them to “block” the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless, regardless of whether the phone’s SIM is changed.

Exams…..

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Dear Students,

Have you ever thought why some students do better than others in their exams? Perhaps you know someone who does brilliantly in class but doesn’t perform so well in her/his exams.  The reason for both these scenarios is lack of exam technique.  It is the way in which you approach the exam that counts.  That makes a difference between a good performance and a brillaint one.  Confidence building is the most important exercise.  If you are positive that you will succeed, success is certian.  That is half the battle. The other half is: studying consistently, going over textbooks again and again, and yet again.  Selective study does not help.  Answers should be brief and to the point.  In addition, when studying for science subjects, pay careful attension diagrams.

TIPS FOR EXAM; IT IS IMPORTANT

1: Dont spend spend more than 20 minutes for very short answers: seventy minutes on short answer questions, 55 minutes on long answer questions, 15 minutes for map work.

2: Check how many marks are allocated per question.

3: Answer short answers in two sentences (40 words). In long answers 150 words, give a one sentence introduction.

4: Read your question paper carefully in the 15 minutes given at the beginning of the paper

5: If a question cannot be solved in the first attempt, leave it and go on to the next one.

6: Mark the un-attempted questions so that you can come back to them at the end of the paper

7: Always attempt the answers even if you feel tat the question is misprinted or wrong

8: Use the graph sheet judiciously.  You will not be provided an extra graph sheet.

9: As far as possible, maintain the sequence of answers, attempt all question from one section at one place.
